Welcome To Red Barn

Home of Red Barn Publishing in Rockland, Maine
and of author, Peter Tufts Richardson

I hope you will enjoy visiting this site from time to time.  It has four sections.  BOOKS will bring you to books I have written distributed by Red Barn Publishing.  BIO simply gives you a sketch of my life so you will know who you are dealing with.  BARN describes the barn behind the name "Red Barn."  In time I will expand it with some local history of Rockland, ME and family stories.  BLOG represents that great temptation of authors to have a place to write that others may access.

On this site you will meet up with world religion, Unitarian Universalist history, Psychological Type, all in the context of the attempt of one person to practice world citizenship.

World religion is focused here in a correlation I discovered with the work of Carl Jung and his successors Isabel Briggs Myers, John Beebe and others working with the MBTI™ to give the individual a way to personally identify their spiritual path.  As an historian I could not stop there and have traced the archetype behind this correlation in religious history before and after the invention of the alphabet 3,000 or so years ago.  Further themes for world religious practice will appear in my blog and you will find Hindu, Confucian, Taoist, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist and other references to our global religious inheritance.

Unitarian Universalist history for me focuses in a New England cultural base.  My two books work with our Boston origins and include a multitude of themes .  For example in theology you will find discussions of classical Liberal Christianity, Transcendentalism, the Free Religious Association, Humanism and Naturalism, with such well known American leaders as Jonathan Mayhew, Charles Chauncy, William Ellery Channing, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Theodore Parker, Kenneth Patton and others.  Themes include creation of the Harvard Divinity School, the Boston Athenaeum, Perkins Institution for the Blind, the origins of universal public education with Horace Mann, and events such as the Civil War or the American Revolution with the famous signature of John Hancock.
